    The Department of Art offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communication or Fine Art, as well as a general Bachelor of Arts degree. An Art Minor is also available to students in other majors throughout the University. At the graduate level, the department offers the Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art.

    The Department of Music offers course study leading to the Bachelor of Music degree and the Bachelor of Arts degree. The Bachelor of Music degree includes Music Education (Instrumental, General/Choral-Piano or Voice), Theory-Composition, or Applied Music (Instrumental, Piano, Voice). The Bachelor of Arts degree offers the student the opportunity for professional study in music within a liberal arts context. A Master of Music degree is offered at the graduate level.

    Once every four years, a group of exceptionally talented students is selected for admission to the University of Delaware's Professional Theatre Training Program (PTTP), a graduate-level conservatory, for three years of training leading to the Master of Fine Arts degree. For undergraduate students, the Theatre Department offers three distinct undergraduate minors all designed to deepen the student's appreciation of the theatre as an art form within the context of a liberal arts education. Students may select from the Performance Studies Minor, Theatre Production Minor, or Theatre Studies Minor. Coursework in all minors provides students with a foundation for theatre appreciation, focusing on the art and craft of theatre making. The Theatre Department also provides the University with a variety of general education courses in theatre designed to expand appreciation of, and future participation in, theatre.

  • Dance

    A Minor in Dance is available for students who have an interest in dance and want a concentration of study in this area to complement their career goals. The minor provides students with the opportunity to study a variety of coursework including, but not limited to, technique, composition and choreography, and elective choices in the historical, cultural, pedagogical, and somatic areas of dance. Additionally, dance minors complete a variable credit capstone experience project. The Dance Minor is a joint program between the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Health Sciences.

  • 'Rolling Stone' art

    David Brinley, associate professor of art, created a painting that appears in Rolling Stone magazine as part of a dramatic and controversial illustration for an article about the growing problem of heroin addiction in rural America.

  • Steel drum band

    Harvey Price, associate professor of music, is using his connections and knowledge to form a steel drum band in Israel comprising Jewish and Arab children, with the aim of bridging the gap between people through music.

  • 'State of CAS'

    In his 2013 State of the College address, George Watson, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, discussed goals and priorities for the current year and beyond, with special emphasis on what he termed "the Delaware difference."

  • Puglisi Challenge

    Donald J. Puglisi, MBNA America Professor Emeritus of Business, and his wife, Marichu Valencia, have made a generous commitment of $1 million to support the Department of Music, establishing a giving challenge as an incentive for others to invest in the department.
