<div>The Department of Biological Sciences offers a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and in Biological Science Education.&nbsp;A Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences is offered in Ecology and Organismic Biology, in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Genetics, and in Biotechnology.&nbsp;The Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees are also offered in the fields of biotechnology, cell and extracellular matrix biology, cell and organ systems physiology, ecology and evolution, microbiology, molecular biology and genetics, and plant biology.</div>

<div>The Department of Chemistry&nbsp;&amp; Biochemistry provides five undergraduate degree options: Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry Education, Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Environmental Chemistry, and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Graduate degrees offered are Master of Arts in Chemistry&nbsp;&amp; Biochemistry, Master of Science in Chemistry&nbsp;&amp; Biochemistry and Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry&nbsp;&amp; Biochemistry.</div>

<div>The Department of Linguistics&nbsp;&amp; Cognitive Science offers a major in cognitive science and two minors at the undergraduate level: one in linguistics and one in cognitive science. The department has course templates for individualized degrees in Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and in Pre-professional Speech Pathology, and in Cognitive and Linguistic Science. At the graduate level, the department offers a flexible program leading to the Master of Arts degree in Linguistics. This allows students to design programs of study in areas of theoretical linguistics, applied linguistics and cognitive science. A Doctor of Philosophy degree is also available with specialization in theoretical linguistics, psycholinguistics, and applied linguistics.</div>

<div>The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers major programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Mathematics as well as in Mathematics Education, and two interdisciplinary major programs, the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics, and the Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Biology, offered in collaboration with the Departments of Economics and Biological Sciences, respectively. The department offers programs of study leading to degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Mathematics and in Mathematics at the graduate level.</div>

<div>The Department of Physics&nbsp;&amp; Astronomy offers&nbsp; undergraduate&nbsp; programs leading to the B.S. or B.A. in physics or physics education, with the option of a concentration in astronomy or astrophysics. The graduate program&nbsp; offers a curriculum and research opportunities leading to the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. The department is located in Sharp Laboratory which houses a physics library, research and teaching laboratories, excellent machine and electronics shops, and modern computing facilities.</div>

<div>The Department of Psychology offers a B.A. degree with a major in psychology, a B.A. degree with a major in psychology education, and a minor in psychology. The Department of Psychology offers a doctoral degree in psychology with specialization in the areas of social psychology, cognitive psychology, biological psychology (behavioral neuroscience), and clinical psychology. The clinical training program is accredited by the American Psychological Association.</div>

<div>In Delaware, the common desire for the creation of a translational cancer research effort among faculty and clinicians recruited to the State over the past decade and has, in essence, created a clinical and translational cancer effort “without walls”. The thriving effort in translational cancer research involves individuals from 4 institutions - University of Delaware, A.I. duPont Hospital for Children/Nemours, Christiana Care Health System/Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, and the Delaware Biotechnology Institute - who share a common vision to improve cancer research and delivery. Our mission is to establish a pipeline of translational cancer researchers and clinicians by developing a program that starts at the undergraduate level and continues to provide training throughout the graduate and post-graduate levels. We also seek to build research partnerships constituting teams of clinicians, biologists,&nbsp;engineers, chemists, and computer scientists to attack cancer-related problems.</div>

<div>The Cardiovascular Research Program will focus on the effect of kidney function on cardiovascular events, extra-cellular matrix remodeling in heart failure and biomaterials for cardiac tissue engineering. Ulhas Naik, Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Delaware, serves as Program Director of the Cardiovascular Program and directs&nbsp;the new Cardiovascular Research Center at UD. Partnering in the effort is Christiana Care Health System's Center for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research, led by Dr. William Weintraub, Chief of Cardiology.</div>

<div>The Medical Scholars Program integrates faculty and courses at both the University of Delaware and Jefferson Medical College. By studying new academic subjects and gaining practical experience in areas now underemphasized in medical education, students understand health care in sociocultural, political, and economic as well as biological terms. The curriculum ranges from traditional medical subjects to courses in humanities, social sciences, economics, and political science. Small group discussions, problem-based instruction, and hands-on experience encourage students to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and effective communicators.</div>
