Cotton Inc. Grant Funds Supply Chain Research in Guatemala

Cotton Lab 2012 Project - "From the Ground Up", funded by Cotton Incorporated, is a supply chain and product development collaboration between design, merchandising, and supply chain management students at the University of Delaware and Philadelphia University.

Students are working together to analyze the supply chain, directly learning about cotton production, the process from fiber to garment, and the challenges and issues related to sustainability through the supply chain. Students and faculty have traveled to North Carolina, Guatemala, and New York, and recently to Texas during the cotton harvest.

As part of the project, students and faculty are learning about the supply chain first hand, from field, to mill, to factory, to retail; creating cotton products that consider the supply chain and sustainability.

Watch for an upcoming webinar and an interactive web-site geared toward consumers and a teaching tool that focuses on sustainability within the denim supply chain.
