Resources for Future Teachers
- Teach For America recruits a diverse group of leaders with a record of achievement who work to expand educational opportunity, starting by teaching for two years in a low-income community.
- Teach in Delaware Day and Project Search are education career fairs sponsored by the University of Delaware Career Services Center and the University Council on Teacher Education. Both events will bring recruiters to campus to meet and interview prospective teachers, counselors, administrators and specialists for vacancies in the upcoming school year.
- The Education Resource Center (ERC) provides preschool through grade 12 curriculum resources and related services for the preparation and professional development of educators in support of national and Delaware content and performance standards. The ERC is a division of the Delaware Center for Teacher Education (DCTE) at the University of Delaware.
- The Institute for Recruitment of Teachers addresses the lack of diversity in the nation's teaching faculties by recruiting outstanding students of color and other scholars committed to diversity, counseling them through the graduate school application process, and advocating for sufficient funding for advanced study.
- The Praxis Series™ tests are taken by individuals entering the teaching profession as part of the certification process required by many states and professional licensing organizations.
- The Teacher Education @ UD website has a wealth of information and resources for pre-service teachers including instructions on how UD students can access timed Praxis sample tests and test preparation materials for free.
- The STEM Teacher Residency Program at the University of Delaware is a new 10-month master's in teaching degree that prepares undergraduate students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields to teach science or math in high-needs schools in Delaware. Candidates are offered a tuition scholarship and a monthly stipend in exchange for agreeing to teach in a Delaware high-needs public school for three years upon graduation.
- The Delaware Transition to Teaching Partnership at the University of Delaware is a new project designed to help anyone with a background in Math, Science, English, or Technology and Engineering become a teacher in a high-need grade 6-12 Delaware public school. The program works in partnership with local public and charter schools and provides financial support through tuition scholarships, as well as mentoring support over the first year of teaching.
