As Director of Communications, Katie develops and executes comprehensive internal and external communications strategies in support of all college outreach. She leads the Communications Team in serving CAS clients on print and digital publications, news media relations, and social and multimedia projects. Katie holds over 11 years experience in higher education administration, having previously served in communications and management roles in UD's Lerner College of Business and Economics, Office of Communications and Marketing, Department of English, and Sea Grant College Program.

Katie has authored executive speeches, comprehensive reports, and over 300 news releases and magazine features, and directed a variety of creative communications and web projects. She and her team have received awards for their work from the National Federation of Press Women and the Delaware Press Association.

With additional experience in the pharmaceutical industry and as a researcher on organizational storytelling, Katie brings a unique perspective to the college and a passion for helping others to tell their stories. She holds a PhD in English, with research on communicating the business of science through storytelling; an MBA with specializations in management and organizational effectiveness; and graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in English/Business and Technical Writing.

She serves as an executive board member on UD’s Women’s Caucus and chair of the communications committee, and is an ally of the LGBTQ Faculty/Staff Caucus. In 2013, she received the YoUDee Outstanding Advisor Award for advising UD’s premier student a cappella group, Vocal Point, a role she held for nine years. When she's not busy with home design and DIY projects, she enjoys photography and spending time with her husband and their four-legged furkids.
